The Giles County Soil Conservation District is supervised by five board members. Three members are elected every three years, the remaining two members are appointed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture every three years.  Elections are held one year and each of the appointments are filled each consecutive year following the election. These board members are responsible for representing the agricultural producers and landowners of Giles County.

Text Box: Rex Miles, Chairman

Rex currently serves as Chairman of the Board.  He was first elected in 1992 by the farmers of Giles County and has won a position during every election since.  Rex and his family reside in the Bodenham Community of Giles County where he raises black angus cattle on the farm where he grew up.  Rex is a member of the Giles County Cattleman’s Association.

Text Box: Text Box: Larry Dickey, Vice Chairman

Larry currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board.  He was elected in March of 2006 by the farmers of Giles County.  He is a native of Giles County and still resides on the farm in the Campbellsville area where he grew up.  Larry is responsible for outside sales through the Giles Farmers Co-op.  He is a member of the local Quail Forever Milky Way Chapter and an avid supporter of Wildlife.

Text Box: Wade Edde, Treasurer

Wade currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Board.  He was elected in March of 2003 by the farmers of Giles County.  Wade was born and raised in the Aymett Town area of Giles County and now owns the farm where his ancestors sharecropped.   He raises and trains bird dogs and horses at his farm Leatherwood Creek Stables & Kennels. Wade is also a member of the local Quail Forever Milky Way Chapter as well as the Quail Hunter’s Association and is a dedicated supporter of wildlife.

Text Box: Paul Allen, Board Member

Paul serves in an appointed position and has been a board member since June of 1994.  He also serves as the Middle TN Division Vice-President for Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts (TACD).  Paul and his family reside in the Elkton area of Giles County and is a full time farmer raising corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat,  on a rotating basis.  Paul is a member of the Giles County Economic Development Commission and the Shooting Coach for the Giles County High School & Elkton Elementary Trap Teams.

*An error in the 2007 Annual Report stated that Paul has served on the board since 1992.  GCSCD apologizes for any confusion this error may have caused.

 

 

Text Box: Bill Dunavant, Board Member

Bill was appointed to the Giles County SCD board by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) in August of 2007.  Bill grew up on a diversified farming operation and is a 7th generation farmer .  Today Bill and his wife reside in Campbellsville on the farm that has been in his family for more than 100 years.  He owns and operates two poultry barns and raises cattle.  Bill also serves on the board for Farm Bureau and is a member of the Giles County Cattleman’s Association.
